Sequoia National Park is located in Tulare County in the state of California, United States. The park protects 1,635 km2 (631 sq miles) of forested mountainous terrain, notable for its giant sequoia trees (Sequoiadendron giganteum). The park contains the highest point in the contiguous United States, Mount Whitney, at 4,421 m (14,505 feet) above sea level.

Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks preserve and provide for the enjoyment of present and future generations the wonders, curiosities, and evolving ecological processes of the southern Sierra Nevada— including the largest giant sequoia trees in the world, freeflowing wild and scenic rivers, and the heart of the vast High Sierra wilderness.
