Kings Canyon National Park is located in the southern Sierra Nevada, near the city of Fresno, in Fresno and Tulare counties, in the state of California, United States. The park contains its namesake, Kings Canyon and some of the world's largest stands of giant sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum) trees.
As stated in the foundation document:
Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks preserve and provide for the enjoyment of present and future generations the wonders, curiosities, and evolving ecological processes of the southern Sierra Nevada— including the largest giant sequoia trees in the world, freeflowing wild and scenic rivers, and the heart of the vast High Sierra wilderness.
