Overview

The Spotted Thick-knee (Burhinus capensis) is a species of Thick-knee (family Burhinidae) in the order Charadriiformes of bird (class Aves).

Description

Long legs with brown-and-white speckled plumage and a large round head with a yellow eye and a short, stout beak. Males and females look similar.

Range

Found in the grasslands and savannas of sub-Saharan Africa up to 2500m elevation.
