Overview

Lucy's Warbler (Leiothlypis luciae) is a passerine (order Passeriformes) species of bird (class Aves) in the new world warblers family (Parulidae). It is the smallest of the new world warblers.

Description

Small pale gray warbler with a small pointed bill, short tail and a white eyering and rufous rump. Underparts are whitish. Males have a rufous crown patch. Juveniles are paler.

Range

Found in the mesquite bosques, riparian washes and brushy country of the Desert southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico. Short to medium distance migrants, wintering in areas in Mexico.
