Overview

The Baer's Pochard (Aythya baeri) is a species of waterfowl (family Anatidae) in the order Anseriformes of bird (class Aves).

Description

A diving duck with chestnut-and-white sides and a dark head that has a green gloss in good lighting, but which usually appears dark brown or black. Males have a white eye, whereas in the females it is dark.

Range

Rare diving duck found in eastern Asia, from southeast Russia and northeast China, to southern China, Vietnam, Japan, and India.
