Overview

The Swainson's Thrush (Catharus ustulatus), also commonly know as the Olive-backed thrush or Russet-backed thrush, is a passerine (order Passeriformes) species of bird (class Aves) in the Thrush (Turdidae) family.

Description

A medium sized thrush. Brown above, white underparts with brownish spotting. Sexes are similar.

Range

A long distant migrant found in the Americas. Breeding in Canada, Alaska and northern United States, and wintering as far south as Argentina.
