Overview

The Ringed Teal (Callonetta leucophrys) is a species of waterfowl (family Anatidae) in the order Anseriformes of bird (class Aves).

Description

A small duck. Males have a chestnut wing and green patch on the flight feathers, a pinkish breast with black spots. and a the blue bill. Females are mostly brown above and mottled brown below with a striking brown-and-white face pattern. In flight shows dark wings with white-and-green bands.

Range

Found in marshes and swamps of South America.
