The Ring-necked Pheasant (Phasianus colchicus) is a species of pheasant (family Phasianidae) in the order Galliformes of bird (class Aves).
Chicken-like bird with a very long, pointed tail. Male is patterned in orange, gold and grey with red facial skin and an a white ring around the neck. Females are buffy-brown with a spotted and scalloped pattern.
Native to Asia but widely introduced elsewhere. Now found across the globe in Asia, Europe, North America and New Zealand. Found in fields, hedgerows, and brushy areas.
