Overview

Odontophoridae is a family of bird (class Aves) in the order Galliformes (fowls) known as the New World Quails.

Description

Small game birds, with short powerful legs. Capable of short flights, they prefer to walk or run when when startled.

Range

Found from Canada through to southern Brazil with two species found in Africa. Two species were introduced to New Zealand.
