Overview

The Helmeted Curassow (Pauxi pauxi) is a species of Guans, Chachalacas, and Curassows (family Cracidae) in the order of Fowls (Galliformes) of bird (class Aves).

Description

A large terrestrial black curassow having a small head with a blue-gray helmet on the forehead. A red bill and legs, white belly, and white tipped tail.

Range

Found in the eastern Andes of Venezuela and Colombia.
