Balearica regulorum

The Gray Crowned-crane (Balearica regulorum) is a species of crane (family Gruidae) in the order Gruiformes of bird (class Aves).

Description

A beautiful distinctive crane. Mostly grey body, white cheek patch and a golden crown of stiff feathers on its head. Males are slightly larger but otherwise indistinguishable from the females.

Range

Found in both dry savannah and wetlands or flooded grasslands in Sub-Saharan Africa.
