Mareca sibilatrix

The Chiloe Wigeon (Mareca sibilatrix) is a species of waterfowl (family Anatidae) in the order Anseriformes of bird (class Aves).

Description

Has iridescent green-blue cap on its head, the cheeks and forehead are white. Has a bluish gray bill with a black tip and the eyes are dark brown. Sexes are similar. Males are larger and heavier with somewhat brighter plumage and more pronounced iridescence of the cap.

Range

Found on freshwater lakes, marshes, shallow lagoons and slow flowing rivers in the southern part of South America.
