Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve

Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve is located in the northern part of the state of Alaska, United States. The park protects the central portion of the Brooks Range.

Park Purpose

As stated in the foundation document:

The purpose of Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve is to preserve the vast, wild, undeveloped character and environmental integrity of Alaska’s central Brooks Range and to provide opportunities for wilderness recreation and traditional subsistence uses.
